Personal Data & Privacy Statement

This Personal Data Protection & Privacy Statement (“Policy”) describes how we collect and safeguard personal data. Personal data is information about an individual, including identification details, contact details and other information processed in conjunction with The Centre Malaysia (“The Centre”).

The Personal Data We Collect

Our website is informational in nature. We do not collect any personal data or personally information when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information to us. You may choose to provide us with information by contacting us, including for subscription to our publications, events, and for career enquiries or applications.

In the course of our services, you may provide personal data to us, as parties involved in our work. The processing of your personal information will be done in accordance with all applicable laws, and a personal data protection notice will be served on you if you provide your personal data pursuant to a commercial transaction with us.

When and How We Use Your Personal Data

Generally, we may use your information for the purposes of recruitment and other legitimate business purposes. 
Where you have consented, we may also use your information when you:

  • communicate with us
  • register or subscribe for our publications you will find valuable (example: newsletters)
  • visit our website
  • visit our office
  • to invite you to events you may be interested in
  • participate in any of our surveys

The Centre do not sell or otherwise make personal data commercially available to any other third party, except as decribed in this Policy or with your permission.

Disclosure of Your Personal Information

Unless you specify otherwise, The Centre may disclose your personal data to the following parties (including those within and outside Malaysia):

  • Your agents and advisors (including but not limited to professional advisors) and any other person notified by and authorised by you;
  • government agencies / statutory bodies / authorities;
  • any person, who is under a duty of confidentiality who has undertaken the responsibility to keep such data confidential;
  • other parties, in respect of whom you have consented to the disclosure of your personal data;

We do not disclose your personal data to unaffiliated third parties without your consent. However, we may disclose your personal data (within and outside Malaysia) in good faith, (i) to comply with requirements of the government, law enforcement agency, any authorities to whom The Centre is subject to or any orders of court; (ii) as is necessary or relevant in relation to any legal process; or (iii) if required or authorised by law.

If you would like to make any inquiries or complaints or request to access, correct or limit our processing of your personal data, please fill in the form that can be found on our Contact page.
